Big News, or Go North Young Man...
Well folks, it's been a wild ride this past four years. That's right, come this Labor Day, it will have been four years since we first put beans in the hopper, poured them out fresh and loaded up our first home delivery. I'm proud to say that after all this time, our first customer, (you know who you are), is still getting coffee delivered to her door each and every week. And she's not the only one. Many, many others have been with us since the very first week and we thank every one of our customers from home delivery to the many small independent markets and locally owned grocers. While it's an ever growing list, we think our attention to our customers remains one of our greatest values.
So, what will be happening in the coming year, or even coming month or two. Those of you who know me surely know it's hard for me to sit back and not keep planning and looking for ways to enhance the coffee experience. In visiting many (and I mean many) coffee operations around the country, one thing I thought would really be fantastic is combining our roasting operations with a cafe. How cool would that be?... Call me crazy, but talking to an architect friend a few months ago about some redesigning of our current set-up, he said the exact same thing, and wouldn't the empty store front below his office be just the place? I looked in the window and saw a vast expanse that led from Main St. through to the alley running behind all the buildings in downtown Ann Arbor. "Way too big." I said. "Out of our league. Thanks but can we get back to the task at hand." Pause.. "Let me get the key and just show you around" he said, and there started a months long effort to bring the first roaster/cafe located in the heart of downtown Ann Arbor.
Many final details are still being completed, but I can say that plans are drawn, permits are pulled and, gas lines and lumber are being delivered and that this new spot, 217 N. Main St., is within spitting distance of our current location. So stay tuned for further updates on our site, and in the local news as we get closer to this becoming a reality.
